This course introduces students to various aspects of Kurdish society. Incorporating a variety of perspectives, including anthropology, sociology and cultural studies, it provides an overview of Kurdish society. The course pays special attention to questions of identity and history, introduces important literary and cultural texts and figures, and explores contemporary challenges associated with the issues of statelessness and diaspora. “Approaches to Kurdish Studies” presents a combination of disciplinary perspectives and cultural themes that open up windows onto Kurdish society.
